Assoc. Prof. Dr. Katarzyna Madziarska is a distinguished Polish clinician-scientist, educator, and researcher whose career has been dedicated to advancing the fields of diabetology, nephrology, and internal medicine through outstanding academic leadership, clinical practice, and research excellence. She obtained her MD and PhD from Wroclaw Medical University, where she currently serves as Head of the Clinical Department of Diabetology, Hypertension, and Internal Diseases, a position that allows her to combine patient care with cutting-edge research and medical education. Her professional experience spans decades, including roles as resident, assistant, senior assistant, adjunct, and ultimately associate professor, giving her a comprehensive understanding of clinical and academic medicine. She has been actively involved in postgraduate medical training and serves as a coordinator for trainees, a member of doctoral and habilitation committees, and a lecturer at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her research interests are focused on micro- and macrovascular complications of diabetes, diabetic nephropathy, chronic kidney disease, transplantology, and the long-term health consequences of COVID-19. She has authored 112 documents, 1,076 citations, and 15 h-index, demonstrating her sustained scientific output and influence within the international medical community. Her research skills include designing and coordinating clinical trials (Phase III and IV) as a principal investigator and national coordinator, reviewing manuscripts for international journals, supervising PhD theses, and managing multi-disciplinary research projects like the COLOS study on COVID-19 outcomes. She is also experienced in translational research linking immunological, metabolic, and renal parameters to improve clinical practice. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Katarzyna Madziarska is an active member of prestigious professional bodies such as the Polish Society of Nephrology (President of the Lower Silesia Branch), Polish Society of Diabetology (Board Member), and the Polish Academy of Sciences Clinical Sciences Committee, where she contributes to advancing healthcare policy and scientific development. Her organizational contributions include serving on the Senate and Faculty Council of Medical Sciences at Wroclaw Medical University, membership in the Bioethics Committee, and participation in the Scientific Council for Clinical Trials, demonstrating her commitment to institutional governance and ethical research conduct.
