Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohaddeseh Ebrahimi-Ghiri | Neuroscience | Research Excellence Award | Faculty member | University of Zanjan | Iran

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohaddeseh Ebrahimi-Ghiri is an accomplished Iranian behavioral neuroscientist whose academic and research career centers on understanding the complex neurobiological mechanisms underlying learning and memory, anxiety, fear conditioning, depression, sleep deprivation, and reward processes, and she has significantly contributed to translational research involving animal models of neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, hepatic encephalopathy, and Alzheimer’s disease while also advancing experimental electrophysiology techniques such as patch-clamp recording. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohaddeseh Ebrahimi-Ghiri completed her B.S. in Biology at Shiraz University in 2002, followed by an M.S. and Ph.D. in Animal Physiology at Kharazmi University, Tehran, where her graduate research explored dopaminergic and opioidergic mechanisms in reward, motivation, and morphine-related behaviors, guided by leading neuroscientists Dr. Parvin Rostami and Dr. Mohammad-Reza Zarrindast. Professionally, she began her academic path as a teaching scholar and laboratory instructor at the University of Zanjan, later joining the Department of Biology as an Assistant Professor in 2013 and advancing to Associate Professor in 2019, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in biological sciences and behavioral neuroscience. Her mentoring contributions extend to pharmacology programs at Tehran University of Medical Sciences and cognitive neuroscience programs at the Institute for Cognitive Science Studies. Her research interests encompass behavioral neuroscience, emotional regulation, fear circuitry, neuropharmacology, electrophysiological mechanisms, and disease modeling, and she possesses strong research skills in neurobehavioral testing, psychopharmacology, neurochemical pathway analysis, animal surgery, disease induction models, memory assessment paradigms, and advanced electrophysiological recording. Throughout her career, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohaddeseh Ebrahimi-Ghiri has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals across behavioral neuroscience, psychopharmacology, and neurobiology, reflecting her commitment to interdisciplinary scientific advancement. She has been recognized for her sustained research productivity, impactful collaborations, and contributions to understanding brain–behavior relationships in both normal and pathological states. With a strong combination of teaching excellence, research innovation, and academic leadership, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohaddeseh Ebrahimi-Ghiri continues to expand her scientific footprint by addressing emerging questions in neural circuitry, emotional processing, and neuropharmacological interventions. In conclusion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohaddeseh Ebrahimi-Ghiri’s academic trajectory, diverse research competencies, and continued dedication to neuroscience education underscore her role as a distinguished scholar whose work contributes significantly to advancing neurobehavioral science and developing potential therapeutic insights for neurological and psychiatric conditions.
