Author Profile

Early Academic Pursuits

Amlan Kumar Pal began his academic journey with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from The University of Burdwan, India, where he secured 72.25%. His dedication to education continued with Higher Secondary (12th std.) and Secondary (10th std.) education, achieving impressive scores of 82.50% and 89.25%, respectively. He then pursued a Master's degree in Chemistry at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Madras, earning a commendable CGPA of 8.18 out of 10. Amlan's research during this period focused on sulfoxidation using H2O2 as an oxidant and MoO2X2(dmf)2 and HX (X = Cl and Br) as catalysts, supervised by Prof. Dillip Kumar Chand.

Professional Endeavors

Amlan continued his academic journey with a Ph.D. at the University of Montreal, Canada. His research in the Green Energy Group, under the supervision of Prof. Garry S. Hanan, centered around the synthesis and properties of d6 metal complexes of bidentate and tridentate 'super donor' ligands. He achieved a notable grade of 4.3 (out of 5) in the Ph.D. qualifying examination. Following his Ph.D., Amlan took on a postdoctoral position at the University of St Andrews, UK, working on the development of "Fluorine-free" bright deep blue Ir(III)-emitters for solid-state LEEC and OLED applications under the guidance of Dr. Eli Zysman-Colman.  Amlan's contributions extended to a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship, focusing on the "Photochemical Self-assembly of Light Harvesting Chromophores to Form Discrete Supramolecules" at the School of Chemistry, University of St Andrews.

Contributions and Research Focus

He has showcased his expertise in organic and inorganic synthesis, crystallization, and small molecule crystal structures. His research skills encompass the use of sophisticated instruments such as UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, NMR Spectrometer, Potentiostat, and X-Ray Diffractometer. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed crystal structures and actively engages in both national and international conferences.
