Muhammad Usman began his academic journey with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan. During this period, he focused on the development of a Smart Multi-Function Service Robot for Industrial Applications. This early project laid the foundation for his future work in robotics and automation.Subsequently, he pursued a diploma in Electronics from the Government College of Technology, Lahore, where he worked on a Home Automation System using Arduino. This early exposure to electronics and automation technologies marked the beginning of his interest in hardware design and programming.Additionally, he undertook a one-year advanced Chinese language course, showcasing his dedication to cross-cultural communication and expanding his linguistic skills.

Professional Endeavors:

After completing his formal education, Usman ventured into the professional realm as an Electronics Engineer at SUPARCO Lahore. In this role, he contributed significantly to RF antenna design, PCB design and testing, and system engineering for Cube-Sat. His involvement in diverse tasks, such as power subsystem design and telemetry, demonstrated his versatility in electronic systems.Following his stint at SUPARCO, Usman transitioned to Micro-Tech Industries as a Design Engineer, where he worked on energy meters and conducted comprehensive testing and verification according to WAPDA requirements. This period honed his skills in EMC/EMI testing, software testing, and calibration.His career then led him to Apple Inc. Shanghai, where he assumed the role of Hardware Test and Product Engineer. In this current position, he has been instrumental in designing and developing system solutions for new products, creating test plans, and overseeing hardware validations.

Usman's research interests span a wide spectrum, including Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Object Detection, Segmentation & Classification, Tracking, Sensor Fusion, Hardware Design & Testing, Microcontroller Programming & Hardware Interface, PCB Design, and Scientific Writing.His notable research contributions include the development of an "Enhanced Encoder-Decoder Architecture for Visual Perception Multitasking for Autonomous Driving," published in Expert System with Applications (Jan 2024). Other impactful publications cover topics such as speed estimation of moving objects, point-pixel fusion for object detection and depth estimation, and hybrid forecasting models for wind-PV systems.In his M.Sc. thesis, he focused on "Multimodal Data Fusion and Multi-Task Prediction Methods for Environment Perception of Autonomous Driving," showcasing his commitment to advancing autonomous vehicle technologies.
