Dr Mostafa Nazari, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong

Dr. M. Nazari is a distinguished scholar in applied linguistics with a Ph.D. from Kharazmi University, Tehran. His research focuses on teacher education and professional development, particularly teacher identity, emotion, cognition, and the impact of technology in education. He has explored these themes through various lenses, including NEST/NNEST dynamics and action research. Dr. Nazari’s work is widely published, with significant contributions to journals such as TESOL Quarterly and International Journal of Applied Linguistics. His dissertation examined the role of emotions in young English learner teachers’ identity construction. 🎓📚🌟

Education

From 2018 to 2023, He pursued a PhD in Applied Linguistics at Kharazmi University, Tehran, Iran, with a dissertation titled “Conceptualizing the Role of Emotions in Young-English-Learner Teachers’ Identity Construction: A Case Study from Iran” and graduated with a GPA of 19/20 🎓. He completed my Master of Arts in TEFL at the same university from 2014 to 2016, focusing on “The Correspondence between Iranian EFL Teachers’ Dispositions toward Task-Based Language Teaching and Their TBLT-Related Instructional Practices” under the supervision of Dr. Mohammad Nabi Karimi, achieving a GPA of 18.56/20 as a talented student 📚. My Bachelor of Arts in TEFL was obtained from Mohaghegh Ardebili University, Ardebil, Iran, with a GPA of 17.56/20 🏅.

Experience

From 2014 to 2019, He served as an English language instructor and supervisor at the Iran National Language Institution in Shahindej, Iran 🏫🇮🇷. Between 2018 and 2020, He also taught English at the secondary school level 📚. Concurrently, from 2018 to 2022, He was a lecturer and research assistant at Kharazmi University in Tehran 👩‍🏫🔬. In 2022-2023, I lectured and advised theses at Islamic Azad University 📜. Currently, I am a freelance instructor in advanced and article writing ✍️, a Junior Editorial Advisory Board member of TESOL Quarterly 📖, and a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University 🌏.

Awards

🎓 Ranked 3rd and 97th among 3,000 and 30,000 participants for PhD and MA programs, respectively, in the Nationwide Graduate University Entrance Exam. 🌟 Recognized as the talented MA student in 2016. 🏅 Awarded full scholarships for BA at Mohaghegh Ardebili University and for Masters and PhD at Kharazmi University. 📚 Currently serves as a reviewer for renowned journals including TESOL Quarterly, Language Teaching, and more. 🏆 Selected as the top researcher of 2022 by TELLSI Conference, the most reputable international conference in Iran. 🌟

Additionally, Nazari examines transitions from personal to online teaching and the impact of institutional policies on language assessment literacy.
